Lucy Cousins (born in 1964) is a British author and illustrator. She creates wonderful children's books. She is most famous for her books about Maisy Mouse. These books are called the Maisy Series. They started coming out in the 1990s. A TV show called Maisy was made from these books in 1999. A new animated show, My Friend Maisy, is planned for 2025.

About Lucy Cousins
Lucy Cousins grew up with parents who were also artists. She loved children's books from a young age. But it took her six years of art college to decide. She then knew she wanted to make children's books herself.
Her Early Life and Learning
Lucy Cousins studied graphic design at Brighton Polytechnic. She earned a special degree there. After that, she went to the Royal College of Art. There, she met a famous artist named Quentin Blake. He really encouraged her work. At the Royal College of Art, she learned a lot about design and colors.

Lucy Cousins' books are mostly for young children. They are perfect for preschool kids and even younger ones. Some older kids enjoy them too!
Her work, especially Maisy Mouse, is very popular. It's a huge success in publishing. Her books are printed in 27 different languages. Over 27 million copies of her books have been sold. The series is known all over the world as the Maisy Series.
Besides the Maisy books, Lucy Cousins has written other stories. These include Jazzy in the Jungle (from 2002). She also wrote a book about Noah's Ark.
Awards and Special Mentions
Lucy Cousins writes special board books. These books are made for toddlers. The Horn Book Magazine says her board books are among the best.
The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh chose Maisy's First Colors for a special list. It was on their "Best Books for Babies" list in 2013.
Maisy, Lucy Cousins' famous character, was even on a postage stamp! The United States Postal Service put Maisy on a stamp. This was part of their "Favorite Children's Book Animals Series" in 2006.
Lucy Cousins won an award in 2014. It was the Booktrust Best Book Award for her book Peck, Peck, Peck.
She also received Mathical Honors. This was for her book Count with Maisy, Cheep, Cheep, Cheep!.
