Lyudmila Lyubomirova Dyakovska (Bulgarian: Людмила Любомирова Дяковска; born April 2, 1976), known as Lucy Diakovska (Bulgarian: Люси Дяковска, romanizedLyusi Diakovska), is a singer and TV star from Bulgaria. She became famous as a founding member of the pop group No Angels. This group was called the "biggest-selling German girl band ever" by the German media.

After many successful songs with No Angels, Lucy released her own music. In 2005, she put out two singles and a solo album called Lucylicious. Later, in 2008, she became a judge on TV shows like Music Idol in Bulgaria and Starmania in Austria. These were both versions of the popular Idol TV series. In 2012, she also joined the judging panel for the German version of Popstars.

Early Life and Music Journey

Lucy Diakovska is the oldest child in her family. Her father, Lubomir Diakovski, was an opera singer. Her mother, Rositza Diakovska, was a pianist. Lucy's younger brother, Alexander, born in 1982, is a professional basketball player. Her grandfather was also a well-known Bulgarian folk composer. Later, her family moved to Germany.

When Lucy was six, she performed on stage for the first time at a local opera house. Over the next few years, she practiced singing and dancing a lot. After finishing high school in 1994, Lucy decided to move to Germany. There, she trained at the Stage School of Music, Dance and Drama in Hamburg. At the same time, she worked as a dancer for the musical Buddy. She even got a regular role in the show later on.

Lucy wanted to try her luck in the music world. So, she decided to audition for the German TV show Popstars in 2000. Thousands of other women also tried out. The judges were very impressed with Lucy's performance in Hamburg. She made it into the top thirty finalists. Then, she traveled to Majorca, Spain, for a workshop with the other contestants.

In November 2000, during a special episode, a judge announced that Lucy was chosen. She became one of the five members of the new girl group called No Angels.

No Angels' Success

After the five members were chosen, Popstars continued to show their journey. The group moved into a shared apartment near Munich. About four months later, they released their first song, "Daylight in Your Eyes". This song was also on their first album, Elle'ments, released in 2001. Both the song and the album became a huge and unexpected success. They quickly reached the top of the music charts in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. This made No Angels one of the most successful new groups in years.

In the years that followed, No Angels released two more number-one albums: Now ... Us! and Pure. They also released a live album and a successful swing album called When the Angels Swing. Overall, they released twelve singles, with four of them reaching number one. No Angels sold more than five million songs and albums around the world. They became the best-selling German girl band and the most successful girl group in continental Europe between 2001 and 2003.

On September 5, 2003, the four remaining members of the band made an announcement. (One member, Jessica Wahls, had left earlier in February 2003). They said they would no longer perform together after three years of constant touring. The album The Best of No Angels, released in November 2003, marked the end of the band. Each member then went their separate ways in early 2004.

Lucy later rejoined No Angels when they made a comeback. In March 2008, they were chosen to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 finals. This big event took place in Belgrade in May. It was a great honor for Lucy. However, she was not the first Bulgarian to represent Germany at Eurovision. Nora Nova did so in 1964.
