Lucy Owen (born June 18, 1971) is a well-known Welsh television news reader. Her birth name was Lucy Jane Cohen. She has been a familiar face on Welsh TV for many years, presenting news and other shows.

Early Life and Education
Lucy Owen was born on June 18, 1971, in Llandaff, a part of Cardiff, Wales. She went to Howell's School in Llandaff. Later, she studied English at Royal Holloway, University of London. Lucy also has Jewish family background.
Career in Television
Lucy Owen started her career in broadcasting at BBC Radio Wales. She began as a researcher, helping to find information for shows. Soon, she moved on to reporting and co-presenting different programs.
Joining ITV Wales
In 1995, Lucy joined HTV Wales. She became a newsreader for local news updates shown during the `GMTV` morning program. From 1996 to 2007, she was a main presenter for `Wales Tonight`. This was the regional news show for ITV Wales, broadcast from Cardiff.
Moving to BBC Wales
Lucy also presented news on the `ITV News Channel`, which is no longer on air. She even anchored the main `ITV News` programs, like the `Lunchtime News` and `Evening News`. Her last show for `Wales Tonight` was on October 19, 2007.
On November 5, 2007, Lucy started presenting `BBC Wales Today`. This is the evening news program for BBC Wales. She took over from the long-time presenter, Sara Edwards. Because of this move, Lucy also joined the team of the `X-Ray` show. This show has won a BAFTA award. Since 2016, she has co-hosted `X-Ray` with Rachel Treadway-Williams and comedian Omar Hamdi.
Learning Welsh
In May 2012, Lucy took part in a TV series called `cariad@iaith:love4language`. This show was on S4C. She was one of eight people who spent a week learning the Welsh language at a campsite in Pembrokeshire.
Personal Life
Lucy Owen is married to Rhodri Owen, who is also a Welsh television presenter. They got married in June 2004 at St Andrew's Church. This church is near Dinas Powys. The couple lives and raises their child together in Cowbridge.
Family Life
Lucy and Rhodri wanted to have a baby. They received some medical help to have their child. Their son, Gabriel, was born on March 10, 2008. He weighed 5 pounds, 12 ounces (about 2.3 kilograms).
Charity Work
Lucy Owen helps several charities. She has worked with St John Ambulance. She also supports the Bobath Children's Therapy Centre Wales. This center helps children who have cerebral palsy with special therapy. Lucy is also an ambassador for Tŷ Hafan, which is a hospice for children in Wales. She also supports the Prince's Trust in Wales.
Health Update
In 2023, Lucy had a serious eye problem called a detached retina. She found out about it during a regular eye check-up. This problem nearly caused her to lose her eyesight.
