Ludlow is quite isolated. The nearest grocery store and gas station are more than 20 miles away. The community has one business called The Crooked Creek #1. This spot is often visited by people traveling to and from Sturgis.
Ludlow is also home to a rural school. This school serves the children living in the area. There was once a church north of town that was taken down in the 1990s. However, it was rebuilt in 2012. In 2018, it was estimated that only about three people lived in Ludlow.
