Luis Barros Borgoño (Spanish pronunciation: [lwis ˈβaros βoɾˈɣoɲo]; March 26, 1858 – July 26, 1943) was an important Chilean politician. He served as the Vice President of Chile in 1925.

Early Life and Education
Luis Barros Borgoño was born in Santiago, Chile. His parents were Manuel Barros Arana and Eugenia Borgoño Vergara. He studied hard and became a Lawyer in 1880.
Political Career
Barros Borgoño had a long career in Chilean politics. In 1884, he worked at the Supreme Court. He also served as a government minister many times.
He was the Minister of War and Navy three times. This role involved managing the country's armed forces. He also served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs twice. This job meant he handled Chile's relationships with other countries. In 1901, he was the Minister of Finance, looking after the country's money.
Presidential Election of 1920
In 1920, Luis Barros Borgoño ran for President of Chile. He was the candidate for the conservative party. He ran against Arturo Alessandri, who was a liberal politician. Alessandri won the election by a very small number of votes.
Serving as Vice President
Later, in 1925, President Arturo Alessandri resigned from his position. Luis Barros Borgoño then became the Vice President of Chile. He held this important role from October 1 to December 23, 1925. After that, Emiliano Figueroa took over as president.
As an Author
Besides being a politician, Luis Barros Borgoño was also a writer. He enjoyed writing about history. He wrote several books, including The Muzzi Mission and a Life of Admiral Patricio Lynch. He also wrote Mission in the Plata. In this book, he defended his uncle, Diego Barros Arana. His uncle was involved in talks with Argentina about the Patagonia region.
