Luis Gerónimo Abreu Ascanio (born September 7, 1972) is a Venezuelan actor. He is very well known for his roles in telenovelas, which are like long TV soap operas.

Luis Gerónimo Abreu was born in Caracas, Venezuela, on September 7, 1972. His parents were also involved in acting and filmmaking. His father, Luis Abreu, was an actor and theater director. His mother, Haydée Ascanio, was a TV and film writer and producer. Because of his parents, Luis grew up around the entertainment world.

Early Acting Career

Luis started acting when he was very young, at just 5 years old! His mother often took him to her film sets. This helped him get his first acting job in a movie called Bodas de papel (which means Paper Weddings). He acted alongside famous Venezuelan actors José Bardina and Marina Baura.

Luis began his TV career on the Venevisión telenovela Amor de Abril. After that, he took on smaller roles in TV mini-series. He also spent some time working behind the scenes in TV production and management.

Rise to Fame

In 2001, Luis returned to telenovelas with a role in Amantes de luna llena (Lovers of the Full Moon). This show helped him start working internationally. He got a main role in a Peruvian telenovela called Éxtasis.

After that, he came back to Venezuela to act in a movie called Plan B. He also joined the cast of the telenovela Cosita Rica in 2003, which became very popular that year.

Luis then traveled to Mexico to act in the TV Azteca telenovela La hija del jardinero (The Gardener's Daughter). From Mexico, he moved to Colombia to play a role in Telemundo's telenovela La Tormenta (The Storm) in 2005.

Starring Roles in Venezuela

Luis returned to Venezuela to star in several Venevisión telenovelas. These included Ciudad Bendita (Blessed City) in 2006, Arroz con Leche (Rice Pudding) in 2007, and La vida entera (The Whole Life) in 2008.

In 2009, he got another main role in the telenovela Un Esposo para Estela (A Husband for Estela). He acted alongside Daniela Alvarado. This telenovela was very successful in Venezuela and had high TV ratings.

In 2011, Luis was chosen to be the main character in a mystery telenovela called La viuda joven (The Young Widow). He starred with former beauty queen and Miss Venezuela winner Mariángel Ruiz. This show became a huge hit that year.

In 2014, Luis Abreu was cast as the main character in Venevisión's telenovela Corazón Esmeralda (Emerald Heart). He acted with Irene Esser, Flavia Gleske, and Jorge Reyes.

Personal Life

On April 17, 2010, Luis married his girlfriend, actress and model Claudia La Gatta. Their wedding was even shown live on the TV show Super sábado sensacional. On January 17, 2015, the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Salvador Abreu La Gatta.
