Luis Alberto Valdez Farías (born 2 April 1979) is a politician from Peru. He is a member of the Peruvian Congress. He represents the La Libertad area. He belongs to the Alliance for Progress political party.

Early Life and Education

Valdez Farías studied law at the César Vallejo University. He later earned a master's degree in law. This degree focused on labor law and social security. He got it from the National University of Trujillo.

Before becoming a politician, he worked for the city of Trujillo. He was a manager there from 2010 to 2014. He also gave legal advice to the city from 2007 to 2010. For many years, he was an advisor at César Vallejo University.

Starting in Politics

Luis Valdez Farías began his political journey in 2014. He was elected as the Lieutenant Governor of the La Libertad Region. He started this role in January 2015.

He became Governor in October 2015. This happened when the previous Governor, César Acuña Peralta, resigned. Acuña left to run for president. Valdez Farías served as Governor until the end of 2018.

In 2020, Valdez Farías was elected to the Peruvian Congress. He continued to represent the La Libertad Region.

From November 10 to November 15, 2020, Valdez Farías held a very important position. He was the temporary President of Congress. This happened after the President of Peru, Martín Vizcarra, left office.

When the President of Peru changed, the President of Congress, Manuel Merino, then became the new President of Peru. Because Merino left his role in Congress, Valdez Farías, who was the first deputy, stepped in to lead Congress for a short time.
