Luis Alberto Valdez Farías (born April 2, 1979) is a politician from Peru. He has held important roles in the government. He was a Congressman representing the La Libertad Region from 2020 to 2021. He is a member of the Alliance for Progress political party.

About Luis Valdez Farías
Luis Valdez Farías studied law at the César Vallejo University. He also earned a master's degree in law from the National University of Trujillo. His master's degree focused on labor law and social security.
Before becoming a politician, he worked for the local government in Trujillo. He was a Municipal Manager from 2010 to 2014. Before that, he was a Manager of Legal Advice from 2007 to 2010. He also worked as an advisor for César Vallejo University from 2000 to 2014.
Political Journey
Serving La Libertad Region
Luis Valdez Farías started his political career in 2014. He was elected as the Lieutenant Governor of the La Libertad Region. He served in this role starting in January 2015.
He became the Governor of La Libertad in October 2015. This happened after the previous governor, César Acuña Peralta, resigned to run for president. Valdez Farías served as Governor until December 31, 2018.
Becoming a Congressman
In the 2020 special elections, Valdez Farías was elected to the Congress. He represented the La Libertad Region.
He served as the temporary President of Congress for a short time. This was from November 10 to November 15, 2020. This happened after the previous President of Peru, Martín Vizcarra, was removed from office. The President of Congress, Manuel Merino, then became the new President of Peru. As the first deputy, Valdez Farías took over the role of President of Congress temporarily.
During the process to remove President Vizcarra, Valdez Farías voted to remove him. This decision was approved by many members of Congress on November 9, 2020.
His Role in the Alliance for Progress Party
Within his political party, the Alliance for Progress, Luis Valdez Farías holds an important position. He has been the Secretary General of the party since October 2019.
