Lucas Patterson (born September 19, 1987) is a former American football player. He played as an offensive lineman in the National Football League (NFL). An offensive lineman is a player who blocks defenders to protect the quarterback and help the running backs.
Luke Patterson's Football Journey
Lucas Patterson started his professional football career in 2011. He was not chosen in the main NFL draft. Instead, the Kansas City Chiefs signed him as an undrafted free agent. This means a team signs a player after the draft has finished.
Playing for the Chiefs
During his time with the Chiefs, Patterson was often moved around. He was sometimes on the team's "active roster," which means he could play in games. Other times, he was on the "practice squad." Players on the practice squad train with the team but usually don't play in official games.
Time with the Patriots
In 2013, Patterson joined the New England Patriots for their preseason games. However, his time with them was short. He was released from the team after an "injury settlement." This is an agreement where a player and team end their contract because of an injury.
