Luna Island is named after a person named Ines Luna Aguilar. She is from a city in Chile called Punta Arenas. Ines Luna Aguilar provided important help for the Bulgarian Antarctic program. This program involves scientific research and exploration in Antarctica. Naming the island after her was a way to thank her for her support.
