Luther Green (November 13, 1946 – January 25, 2006) was an American basketball player. He was known for playing professionally in both the American Basketball Association (ABA) and the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Born in New York City, Green grew up loving basketball. He played college basketball at Long Island University. His skills caught the eye of professional teams.

Early Career and College
Luther Green attended DeWitt Clinton High School in The Bronx, New York. After high school, he went on to play college basketball. He joined the LIU Brooklyn team. He played for them from 1966 to 1969.
His strong performance in college led to him being drafted. In 1969, two different leagues picked him. The Cincinnati Royals chose him in the NBA draft. The Miami Floridians also picked him in the ABA draft.
Professional Basketball Journey
Luther Green began his professional career in the ABA. He played for the New York Nets for two seasons. This was from 1969 to 1971. The ABA was a major basketball league at the time.
After his time with the Nets, Green played for the Harlem Wizards. This was during the 1971 to 1972 season. He then had a brief period in the NBA. He played for the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1972–73 NBA season.
Later Career Teams
Green continued his basketball career in various leagues. He played for several teams in the mid-1970s. These teams included the Hartford Capitols from 1973 to 1974. He also played for the Long Island Sounds from 1975 to 1976.
He then joined the Wilkes-Barre Barons for the 1976–1977 season. Later, he played for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1977–1978. He returned to the Wilkes-Barre Barons for his final season in 1978–1979.

Luther Green was a talented basketball player. He played for ten years in professional leagues. He passed away on January 25, 2006. He was 59 years old at the time. His death was caused by lung cancer.
