Luther Robinson is a former American football player. He was a defensive end, which is a position on the defense that tries to stop the other team. He played for the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League (NFL). He also played college football at the University of Miami. Luther was born on February 24, 1991.
Early Life and High School Football
Luther Robinson grew up in Fort Pierce, Florida. He played high school football at Fort Pierce Westwood High School. During his senior year, he was a very strong player. He made 90 tackles, which means he stopped the opposing team's players 90 times. He also had 14 sacks, which is when a defensive player tackles the quarterback.
Luther also got one interception, where he caught a pass meant for the other team. He forced 10 fumbles, making the other team drop the ball. He also recovered three fumbles himself. Because of his great performance, he was named to the all-area first-team defense. His cousin, Khalil Mack, who also became a famous NFL player, played football with him at Fort Pierce Westwood.
College Football Career
After high school, Luther Robinson went to the University of Miami. He played college football for the Miami Hurricanes. He was part of the team from 2010 to 2013. Before that, in 2009, he was "redshirted." This means he practiced with the team but did not play in any games. This allowed him to train and get stronger without using up a year of his college playing eligibility.
Professional Football Journey
Luther Robinson hoped to join an NFL team after college. He was not chosen in the 2014 NFL draft, which is when teams pick new players. However, the Green Bay Packers signed him on May 19, 2014. This gave him a chance to play professionally.
He was with the Packers for a few months. He was released by the team on August 30, 2014. But he was quickly signed to their practice squad on September 1, 2014. A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team but are not on the main roster.
On October 2, 2014, Luther was moved to the Packers' active roster. This meant he could now play in real NFL games. He made his first NFL appearance on the same day against the Minnesota Vikings. He played in 5 games for the Packers in 2014, making 2 tackles. The Packers released him again on May 11, 2015.
Later, Luther signed with the San Diego Chargers on August 3, 2015. He tried out with them during their training camp. However, he was released by the Chargers on August 30, 2015. After this, Luther Robinson's professional football career came to an end.
