Lynchburg, Columbiana County, Ohio facts for kids
Lynchburg is a small, unincorporated community located in Columbiana County, in the state of Ohio in the United States. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government, like a city or a village. Instead, it's usually managed by the county.
History of Lynchburg
Lynchburg officially began in 1834. This happened when the Sandy and Beaver Canal was extended to reach this area. When a place is "platted," it means its streets, lots, and public spaces are carefully planned and marked out on a map.
The community got its name from a larger city, Lynchburg, Virginia. Before it was known as Lynchburg, this area had another name: Green Hill. There was even a post office called Green Hill that opened way back in 1828. The name of the post office changed slightly to Greenhill in 1893, but it eventually closed down in 1902.
