History of Lynchburg
Lynchburg was officially planned and laid out in 1830. It was named after Lynchburg, Virginia. This is because one of the first people to settle here came from that city.
A special old bridge, the Lynchburg Covered Bridge, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. This means it is an important historical site.
