Lynetta Kizer (born April 4, 1990) is a professional basketball player from both America and Bosnia. She recently played for Geelong United in Australia's Women's National Basketball League (WNBL). Before turning pro, Lynetta played college basketball at the University of Maryland.

Lynetta's Early Life and High School Basketball
Lynetta Kizer grew up in Woodbridge, Virginia, with her older brother and younger sister. She went to Potomac Senior High School in Dumfries, Virginia. There, she played as a starting center for all four years. She was also a team captain three times.
By her senior year in 2008, experts at HoopGurlz.com ranked Lynetta as the fifth best player overall. She was also considered the top center in the entire country. Her amazing high school skills helped her earn a special scholarship.
College Basketball Career
Lynetta played college basketball for four years at the University of Maryland. She was part of the Terrapins women's basketball team from 2008 to 2012.
During her time at Maryland, Lynetta earned many awards:
- In 2008–09, she was named ACC Freshman of the Year. She also made the ACC All-Freshman Team.
- In 2010, she was on the third-team All-ACC.
- In 2011, she moved up to the second-team All-ACC.
- In 2012, she won the ACC Sixth Player of the Year award.
- She also received an honorable mention for All-ACC as a senior.
While studying at Maryland, Lynetta majored in family science.
Professional Basketball Journey
Lynetta Kizer has had a long and exciting professional basketball career. She has played for many teams in different leagues around the world.
Playing in the WNBA
In 2012, Lynetta was picked by the Tulsa Shock in the 2012 WNBA draft. She was the 29th player chosen overall. After playing seven games for Tulsa, she joined the Phoenix Mercury for the rest of the 2012 WNBA season. She played 15 games with Phoenix that year. Lynetta returned to the Mercury for the 2013 WNBA season, playing in 32 games.
Lynetta then joined the Indiana Fever for the 2014 WNBA season. She stayed with the Fever for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. In 2015, she helped the Fever reach the WNBA Finals. In 2016, she had her best season with the Fever, scoring 9.6 points per game.
On February 21, 2017, Lynetta moved to the Connecticut Sun. She played 20 games for Connecticut during the 2017 WNBA season. She averaged 6.0 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.
In 2018, Lynetta signed with the Minnesota Lynx. She played 12 games before being released on June 30, 2018. She later spent time with the Atlanta Dream in 2019 during their training camp.
Playing Overseas
Lynetta has also played basketball in many countries outside of the WNBA.
- Korea: In 2012–13, she played 17 games for KB Stars in Korea.
- Slovakia: In February 2014, Lynetta joined Good Angels Košice in Slovakia. She helped her team win the Extraliga championship.
- Turkey: For the 2014–15 season, Lynetta played for Hatay Bsb in Turkey. She continued in Turkey for the 2015–16 season with Galatasaray. In February 2018, she returned to Turkey to play for Fenerbahçe.
- Greece: Lynetta played for Olympiacos Pireus in Greece during the 2016-17 season. She also joined Panathinaikos women's basketball team in November 2021.
- China: For the 2017–18 season, Lynetta joined Shandong Six Stars in China. She played for them again briefly in 2018–19.
- Poland: In November 2018, she joined CCC Polkowice in Poland. She played 23 games for the team.
- Italy: For the 2020–21 season, Lynetta played four games for Della Fiore Broni in Italy.
- Mexico: In 2023, Lynetta played for the Mexican team Rojas. She averaged 11.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
- Spain: In January 2024, Lynetta joined the Spanish team CB Islas Canarias.
- Australia: In September 2024, Lynetta signed with Geelong United in Australia. She was released by the team in November 2024.
Playing for Her Country
Lynetta Kizer has also represented the United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina in international basketball competitions.
Representing the USA
- Under-18 Team: Lynetta was part of the USA under-18 team. This team won the gold medal at the 2008 FIBA Americas Championship in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She helped the team win all five of their games.
- World University Games: Lynetta played for Team USA at the 2011 World University Games in Shenzhen, China. Her team won all six games and earned the gold medal.
Representing Bosnia and Herzegovina
On May 14, 2015, it was announced that Lynetta would become a member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina women's national basketball team. She played for Bosnia during the 2015 and 2017 FIBA EuroBasket Qualifiers.
