Lynn Harriette Cohen (born Lynn Harriette Kay; August 10, 1933 – February 14, 2020) was a talented American actress. She was well-known for her roles in movies, TV shows, and plays. Many people remember her as Magda from the popular HBO series Sex and the City. She also played this role in the movies Sex and the City (2008) and Sex and the City 2 (2010). Another famous role was Mags in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Early Life and Beginnings
Lynn Harriette Kay was born in Kansas City, Missouri. Her parents were Louis and Bertha Kay. She came from a Jewish family. Lynn studied at the University of Wisconsin and Northwestern University for a year each. After her studies, she moved to St. Louis. There, she started acting in local theater groups.
Her Acting Career
Lynn Cohen began her acting journey in the 1970s. She performed in many plays that were not on Broadway, called Off-Broadway productions. She was even nominated for awards like the Drama League Award and Lucille Lortel Awards. Some of her important theater roles included Hamlet with Kevin Kline and Macbeth with Liev Schreiber. She also appeared on Broadway in plays like Orpheus Descending (1989) and Ivanov (1994).
Lynn Cohen often played strong and memorable women. Her first big movie role was in the comedy Manhattan Murder Mystery in 1993. From 1993 to 2006, she played Judge Elizabeth Mizener in the TV show Law & Order. She appeared in 12 episodes of that series. She also had guest roles on other popular TV shows. These included NYPD Blue, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Blue Bloods. She also had a repeating role on the show Damages.
From 2000 to 2004, Lynn Cohen played Magda in the HBO comedy series Sex and the City. Magda was a beloved character. Lynn brought her back for the Sex and the City movie in 2008 and its sequel in 2010. She also appeared in other significant films. These included Munich (2005), where she played Golda Meir. Other movies were Vanya on 42nd Street, Synecdoche, New York, Eagle Eye, and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
Personal Life
Lynn Cohen married Gilbert Frazen in 1954. Sadly, he passed away in 1960. In 1964, she married Ronald Theodore Cohen. They stayed married until her death in 2020. Lynn had one child and two grandchildren.
Her Final Years
Lynn Cohen passed away on February 14, 2020. She was 86 years old. She died in New York City, U.S.
