Isaac Liev Schreiber (born October 4, 1967) is an American actor. He is known for his many roles in movies, TV shows, and plays. He has won a Tony Award for his stage work. He has also been nominated for many other awards, including Primetime Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards.
Schreiber has appeared in popular films like the Scream horror movies. He was also in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Spotlight. He has worked with director Wes Anderson on animated films such as Isle of Dogs. He also directed his own film, Everything Is Illuminated (2005).
On stage, he won a Tony Award for his role in the play Glengarry Glen Ross. He has also been nominated for other Broadway shows. On television, he is most famous for playing the main character in the drama series Ray Donovan. He also played Orson Welles in the HBO film RKO 281.

Early Life and Education
Liev Schreiber was born in San Francisco, California, on October 4, 1967. His mother, Heather Milgram, was a painter. His father, Tell Schreiber, was an actor and carpenter. His mother was Jewish, and his father was Protestant. Liev's maternal grandfather, Alex Milgram, came from Ukraine. He was a very important person in Liev's childhood.
When Liev was one year old, his family moved to a small community in British Columbia, Canada. Later, his parents separated, and his mother gained full custody of him. They moved to the Lower East Side in New York City.
Schreiber has described his mother as a very creative and unique person. She made a living by driving a taxi and making papier-mâché puppets. She encouraged a special lifestyle for Liev. For example, she made him follow a vegetarian diet. She also did not let him watch color films. Because of this, his favorite actors were Charlie Chaplin and Basil Rathbone. Liev has said that he now appreciates his mother's choices.
He attended Friends Seminary, a Quaker school. In high school, Liev played the bass clarinet. He then went to Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. There, he started his acting training. He later attended the Yale School of Drama, where he earned a master's degree in drama in 1992. He also studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Early Roles and Breakthrough

In 1992, Liev Schreiber acted in a play called Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet). The next year, he made his Broadway debut in the play In the Summer House. In 1994, he made his first movie appearance in Mixed Nuts. He had supporting roles in independent films like Mad Love and Party Girl in 1995.
His big break came when he played Cotton Weary in the Scream horror film series (1996–2000). This success led to roles in bigger movies. He was also praised for his work in independent films like Walking and Talking and Big Night.

Ray Donovan and Recent Work

From 2013 to 2020, Schreiber starred as the main character in the crime drama series Ray Donovan on Showtime. He also worked as a writer, director, and producer for the show. For this role, he received many nominations for Primetime Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards.
In 2014, he played Russian chess grandmaster Boris Spassky in the film Pawn Sacrifice. In 2015, he played journalist Martin Baron in the drama film Spotlight. He won a Screen Actors Guild Award with the rest of the cast for their performance.

Return to Broadway
In 2020, the Ray Donovan series ended. A movie, Ray Donovan: The Movie, was released in 2022 to conclude the story. Schreiber helped write the script for the movie. He also appeared in another Wes Anderson film, The French Dispatch (2021). He played a leading role in the film Across the River and into the Trees (2022).
In 2021, he acted in the satirical film Don't Look Up. He reunited with Wes Anderson for Asteroid City (2023). That same year, he played Henry Kissinger in the film Golda. He also played Otto Frank in the miniseries A Small Light (2023). In 2024, Schreiber returned to Broadway in the play Doubt.
Personal Life

Liev Schreiber was in a relationship with actress Naomi Watts from 2005 to 2016. They have two children together.
Since 2017, Schreiber has been in a relationship with Taylor Neisen. They got married in July 2023, and their daughter was born in August 2023.
Schreiber lives in a loft apartment in Noho, a neighborhood in New York City.
Philanthropy

On July 6, 2022, Liev Schreiber became an ambassador for United24. This is a platform that raises money for Ukraine, especially for medical care.
Schreiber also founded BlueCheck Ukraine. This organization has helped fund programs for psychological support. It has also helped evacuate over 20,000 orphans from different regions in Ukraine.
In August 2022, Schreiber and another ambassador, Ukrainian footballer Andriy Shevchenko, visited Kyiv. They met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Schreiber and Shevchenko also visited cities like Bucha and Borodianka, which were badly damaged by conflict.
