Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is an exciting animated superhero film from 2018. It brings the amazing Marvel Comics character Spider-Man to life in a whole new way. The movie was directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman. It was the very first animated film in the Spider-Man movie series.
The story follows a teenager named Miles Morales, voiced by Shameik Moore. Miles becomes the new Spider-Man in his city. He soon meets other Spider-People from different parallel universes. Together, they must team up to save Miles' world from a powerful villain called the Kingpin. Many talented actors lent their voices to the characters, including Jake Johnson, Hailee Steinfeld, and Mahershala Ali.

Miles Morales' Amazing Journey
Miles Morales is a teenager from New York City who feels pressure from his police officer father, Jefferson Davis. His dad doesn't trust the city's hero, Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man. Miles' uncle, Aaron, takes him to an old subway station to paint graffiti. There, a radioactive spider bites Miles, giving him powers just like Spider-Man!
Miles later finds a giant machine called a collider. It was built by the villain Kingpin. Kingpin wants to use it to find other versions of his family from parallel universes. The original Spider-Man, Peter Parker, tries to stop Kingpin but is badly hurt. He gives Miles a special USB flash drive to shut down the collider. Peter warns that the machine could destroy the city if it's turned on again. Miles watches in horror as Kingpin defeats Peter.
Miles tries to honor Peter's memory by becoming the new Spider-Man. But he accidentally damages the drive. At Peter's grave, he meets another Peter Parker, an older, tired Spider-Man from a different dimension. They sneak into a lab called Alchemax to get data for a new drive. There, they meet Olivia Octavius, who is actually Doctor Octopus. She explains that the alternate Peter will get very sick if he stays in Miles' dimension.
Suddenly, Gwen Stacy, a Spider-Woman from another dimension, saves them. They all go to Peter Parker's aunt, May. She is helping other Spider-People who also came through the collider. These include Spider-Man Noir, Peni Parker, and Spider-Ham. They are all getting sick too. Miles wants to help them go home, but they think he's too new to be a hero.
Miles goes to his uncle Aaron's apartment and discovers Aaron is Kingpin's helper, the Prowler. Miles returns to Aunt May's house, where the new drive is ready. Kingpin's team follows him. During a big fight, Miles reveals his identity to Aaron. Aaron doesn't want to hurt his nephew, but Kingpin shoots him. Aaron dies in Miles' arms. Miles escapes, but his father, Jefferson, sees the new Spider-Man and thinks he hurt Aaron.
The other Spider-People try to stop Miles from getting involved, thinking he's not ready. But Jefferson talks to Miles, telling him he believes in him. This inspires Miles! He learns to control his powers and creates his own Spider-Man suit with Aunt May's help. Miles joins his friends to fight Kingpin's team. He uses the new drive to send the other Spider-People back to their homes.
Kingpin fights Miles, but Jefferson sees Miles in action. He realizes Spider-Man is a hero, not a menace. Jefferson encourages Miles, who then throws Kingpin into the collider's kill switch, destroying it! The city is saved, and Kingpin's team is arrested. Miles' dad gets proof of Kingpin's crimes. Miles embraces his new life as Spider-Man. Later, Gwen finds a way to talk to Miles from her dimension.

The Idea for a New Spider-Man Story
The idea for an animated Spider-Man movie started around 2014. Producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller wanted to create a unique film.
