Hailee Steinfeld (born December 11, 1996) is a talented American actress and singer. She became famous for her role in the Western film True Grit (2010). This role earned her many awards and nominations, including for an Academy Award and a BAFTA Award.

Hailee also gained wide recognition for her parts in the Pitch Perfect movies (2015–2017). Her role in The Edge of Seventeen (2016) led to a Golden Globe Award nomination. She has also starred in other popular films like Ender's Game (2013) and Bumblebee (2018).

You might also know her voice! She voiced Gwen Stacy / Spider-Woman in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and its 2023 sequel. She also voiced Vi in the Netflix series Arcane (2021–2024). On TV, she played Emily Dickinson in the Apple TV+ series Dickinson (2019–2021). Since 2021, she has played Kate Bishop in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Hailee also has a successful music career. She became known for her singing after performing "Flashlight" in Pitch Perfect 2 (2015). Hailee Steinfeld's Early Life and Family

Hailee Steinfeld was born on December 11, 1996, in Tarzana, a neighborhood in Los Angeles, California. She is the younger of two children. Her mother, Cheri, is an interior designer, and her father, Peter, is a personal trainer. Hailee has an older brother named Griffin.

Her uncle is the famous fitness trainer and actor Jake Steinfeld. Her cousin, actress True O'Brien, inspired Hailee to try acting when Hailee was eight years old. Hailee's father is Jewish, and her mother is Christian. Her grandfather on her mother's side was part Filipino and part African-American.

Hailee grew up in Agoura Hills and later in Thousand Oaks, California. She went to Ascension Lutheran School, Conejo Elementary, and Colina Middle School. From 2008 until she finished high school in 2015, she was home-schooled.

Hailee Steinfeld started acting when she was just 10 years old. She appeared in several short films. One of her early roles was Talia Alden in the award-winning film She's a Fox.

When she was 13, Hailee was chosen to play Mattie Ross in the movie True Grit. The film was released around the world in December 2010. Critics loved her performance. Richard Corliss from Time magazine called her acting one of the best of 2010. He said she delivered her lines perfectly and won hearts. This role earned Hailee a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She also received nominations for a BAFTA Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

In May 2011, after True Grit came out, she became the new face of the Italian fashion brand Miu Miu.

In 2011, at age 14, Hailee was cast as Juliet in a 2013 movie based on Romeo and Juliet. This film was released in October 2013. Hailee also starred as Petra Arkanian in Ender's Game, a science-fiction action film. That movie came out on November 1, 2013.

She played Violet in the romance-drama Begin Again. This film was released in June 2014. In 2014, Hailee also lent her voice to Anne Frank for an exhibition at the Museum of Tolerance. In March 2015, she was a voice actor for the English version of the Japanese animated film When Marnie Was There. She voiced Anna Sasaki.

In July 2015, Hailee and singer Shawn Mendes released an acoustic version of his song, "Stitches". The next month, Hailee released her first single, "Love Myself".

Her first EP, Haiz (a nickname her fans use), came out in November 2015. The EP received good reviews. In February 2016, she released a new version of "Rock Bottom" with the band DNCE. Hailee's next single, "Starving", was released in July 2016. This song became a huge hit, selling millions of copies around the world.

In September 2016, Hailee played the main role in The Edge of Seventeen. This coming-of-age comedy also starred Woody Harrelson. The film was released in November 2016 and received great reviews. Hailee's performance was highly praised and earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination.

In early 2017, Hailee was featured on two songs: "Show You Love" and "Digital Love". In March, she was featured on Machine Gun Kelly's song "At My Best". A month later, Hailee released her next single "Most Girls". This song was well-received and became popular on the music charts. In December 2018, Hailee was chosen to star as Emily Dickinson in the Apple TV+ comedy series Dickinson. The show started airing on November 1, 2019. To promote the show, Hailee released the song "Afterlife". The show ran for three seasons and won a Peabody Award in 2020.

In January 2019, Hailee was featured on a new version of "Woke Up Late" by Drax Project. In August 2019, she appeared in the music video for Benny Blanco and Juice Wrld's song "Graduation". She also had a small role as an Angel recruit in the 2019 film Charlie's Angels.

Hailee Steinfeld briefly dated Instagrammer Cameron Smoller in 2016-2017. She then dated Irish singer Niall Horan for about a year. As of May 2023, Hailee has been in a relationship with Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. They became engaged on November 22, 2024.

Beyond acting and music, Hailee Steinfeld has worked with many brands. She has endorsed companies like Prada, Balmain, and Louis Vuitton. In 2022, when she released her song "Coast," she also became a brand ambassador for CORE Hydration.

Charity Work and Philanthropy

Hailee supports many charities, especially those that help children. She has worked with "What's Your Mission?", a charity initiative with a clothing brand.
