Mabel Lake is a beautiful lake located in British Columbia, Canada. It is a popular spot for outdoor fun. The lake is fed by and drains into the Shuswap River. It sits among mountains and is a great place for camping and fishing. The area around the lake is mostly wilderness.

Location and Features

Mabel Lake is in the southern part of British Columbia. It is found southeast of Shuswap Lake. You can also find it northeast of Okanagan Lake. The Monashee Mountains are to its west. The lake stretches about 35 kilometers (22 miles) long. It runs mostly from north to south.

The Shuswap River flows into the southern end of Mabel Lake. This river comes from Sugar Lake. The Shuswap River then flows out of Mabel Lake towards the west. It eventually reaches Mara Lake. Even though it is part of the Shuswap Lake river system, Mabel Lake is managed by the North Okanagan region.

Fun Activities

Mabel Lake is a fantastic place for outdoor adventures. Many people enjoy camping here. Fishing is also very popular. The lake is home to many types of fish. The most popular ones are salmon and rainbow trout.

Exploring the Parks

Mabel Lake Provincial Park is on the southeastern side of the lake. It is about 35 kilometers (22 miles) from the village of Lumby. You can reach it by taking the Lumby-Mabel Lake Road. This road is paved. It also passes by the Shuswap Falls Recreation Area. For more information, you can visit the Lumby Visitor Center. It is run by the Lumby & District Chamber of Commerce.

Another park nearby is Skookumchuck Rapids Provincial Park. It is on the Shuswap River, just west of the lake. The main way to get there is the Enderby-Mabel Lake Road. This road goes east from Enderby. The closest town at the north end of the lake is Kingfisher.
