Madame Doubtfire, also called Alias Madame Doubtfire in the United States, is a fun and heartwarming book from 1987. It was written by the English author Anne Fine. This story is about a family with parents who are divorced. The book was very popular when it first came out. It even won nominations for several awards. Later, in 1993, the book was made into a famous movie called Mrs. Doubtfire. The movie starred Robin Williams and Sally Field.
The Story of Madame Doubtfire
This book tells the story of Daniel and Miranda Hillard. They are separated parents. Miranda is a busy businesswoman. Daniel is an actor who is currently out of work. Miranda limits how much time Daniel can spend with their three children. Their kids are named Lydia, Christopher, and Natalie.
Miranda decides she needs to hire a nanny to help with the children. Daniel then gets a clever idea. He disguises himself as an older woman and applies for the nanny job. He calls himself "Madame Doubtfire."
The two older children, Lydia and Christopher, quickly figure out that Madame Doubtfire is their dad. But the youngest child, Natalie, and their mom, Miranda, are completely fooled. Daniel uses his disguise to spend more time with his kids. Miranda even says that the house has never been so well-managed.
Eventually, Miranda discovers Daniel's secret. After another big argument, both parents realize their mistakes. They then make new plans for Daniel to see his children more often.

Robin Williams played the main character, Daniel Hillard/Mrs. Doubtfire. Sally Field played his wife, Miranda. In the movie, Daniel's disguise is so good that no one in his family recognizes him at first.
The amazing makeup for Mrs. Doubtfire won an award. Greg Cannom, Ve Neill, and Yolanda Toussieng received an Academy Award for Best Makeup. The movie was a huge success. It earned $441.3 million around the world. It was the second-highest-grossing film of 1993, right after Jurassic Park.
