Madden Falls is a stunning natural wonder located in the Pacific Ranges of British Columbia, Canada. It's a special kind of waterfall called a "horsetail" because the water flows down a steep slope while staying in contact with the rock, looking a bit like a horse's tail! This amazing waterfall is incredibly tall, reaching a total height of 579 m (1,900 ft). That makes it the second tallest waterfall in all of Canada!
How Madden Falls Was Formed
Madden Falls is created by Madden Creek. This creek starts high up on the side of Pelion Mountain. As the water flows down, it tumbles over a very steep part of the mountain. It does this in nine different sections, or "steps."
The Longest Drop
One of these steps is especially impressive! It measures 152 m (499 ft) tall. This single drop is so big that it's considered the 13th tallest single drop of any confirmed waterfall in Canada.
Seeing the Falls
Even though it's in a wild area, most of Madden Falls can be seen quite easily. You can view it from across the Squamish Valley, which is a wide, open area. This makes it a great sight for anyone exploring the beautiful Canadian wilderness.
