The Magoffin County Pioneer Village and Museum is a special place in downtown Salyersville, Kentucky. It's like stepping back in time! This museum shows off a collection of old log cabins that have been carefully rebuilt. Most of these cabins come from the eastern part of Kentucky.
The Magoffin County Historical Society also has a Library and Archives Center right at the museum. Here, you can find lots of old family records and local history information. It's a great spot to learn about the people who lived in Kentucky long ago.
About the Pioneer Village
Most of the log cabins you see at the Pioneer Village are very old. They were first built in the early 1800s. That's over 200 years ago! What's really cool is that these buildings are made from all their original materials.
How the Cabins Were Moved
It's a big job to bring these old cabins to the museum. First, the buildings are carefully taken apart, log by log. Then, all the pieces are moved to the Pioneer Village. Finally, they are put back together exactly as they were, right there at the museum site. This way, visitors can see what homes looked like for early settlers.
