Maidhc Dainín Ó Sé (born February 2, 1942 – died August 29, 2013) was a famous Irish-language writer and musician. He came from County Kerry in Ireland, specifically from a Gaeltacht area where Irish is the main language spoken. He was known as one of the best Irish writers of his time. His autobiography, A Thig Ná Tit Orm, was very popular. His writings were even used in the Leaving Certificate exams for Irish students starting in 1995. He was also the father of Dáithí Ó Sé, a well-known TV presenter.

His Life Story
Maidhc Dainín Ó Sé was born in a place called Carrachán, Baile na nGall, County Kerry in 1942. His father, Dainín Dan Ó Sé, was a fisherman from Baile na nGall. His mother, Máire Ní Chinnéide, was from an Daingean.
When Maidhc was 16 years old, in 1958, he moved to England for a short time. The next year, in 1959, he moved even further away to Chicago, United States. He lived there for many years before returning to Ireland in 1969.
