Mailliard was a small place that used to be a settlement in Marin County, California. It was located about 8 kilometers (5 miles) south-southwest of downtown Novato. This area is now part of Woodacre, which is in the San Geronimo Valley. Mailliard was located at an elevation of 133 meters (436 feet) above sea level.

What Was Mailliard?

Mailliard was once a small community or stopping point along the Northwestern Pacific Railroad. It appeared on maps until at least 1914, showing it was an active place for some time. Today, it is no longer a recognized settlement.

The Mailliard Family and Ranch

The settlement was named after a person named Adolph Mailliard. He moved to this area in 1868 with his wife, Ann Eliza Ward. They started a large property called the San Geronimo Ranch. At their ranch, the Mailliards focused on breeding horses. This ranch was an important part of the early history of the San Geronimo Valley.
