Who Was Maj Bylock?
Maj Kerstin Andersson was born on March 21, 1931, in Visby, a town on the Swedish island of Gotland. When she was 12, her family moved to Värmland, where she lived for the rest of her life. She studied to become a primary school teacher and worked as one until 1961.
Her Journey as a Writer
Maj Bylock started writing because she noticed something important. As a teacher, she found that there weren't many good history or religion textbooks for children. So, she decided to write them herself! Over the years, she wrote many books for children, young people, and even adults.
Her stories often had a strong historical theme. This means her books helped readers learn about the past in an exciting way. One of her famous books, Solstenen (which means "The Sunstone"), even became a musical!
