Malcolm Graham (born January 14, 1963) is a politician from the United States. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Graham has served in important roles for the state of North Carolina and the city of Charlotte.
He was a member of the North Carolina Senate from 2005 to 2014. There, he represented District 40, which includes Mecklenburg County. Before that, he served on the Charlotte City Council. He was elected to the Charlotte City Council again in 2019.

Malcolm Graham's Political Journey
Serving in the State Senate
Malcolm Graham was first elected to the North Carolina Senate in 2004. He won against former senator Fountain Odom in the Democratic primary. Then, he defeated Republican Brian Sisson in the main election.
He served in the Senate for about ten years. His time there ended in 2014. After that, he tried to become a member of the United States House of Representatives. He ran for District 12 but was not successful.
Time on the Charlotte City Council
Before joining the State Senate, Graham was a member of the Charlotte City Council. He served on the council from 1999 until 2004. During this time, he represented the city's 4th District.
In 2019, Malcolm Graham decided to run for the Charlotte City Council again. He won the Democratic primary election on September 10. Then, he won the general election on November 5. He officially started his new term on December 2, 2019.
Early Life and Career
Malcolm Graham was born in Charleston, South Carolina. He moved to Charlotte in 1981. He attended Johnson C. Smith University on a tennis scholarship. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the university.
Graham has worked in several important jobs. He started the Center for Supplier Diversity. He also held leadership positions at Bank of America and Time-Warner Cable. Today, he works at Johnson C. Smith University. He is a Special Assistant to the President for Government and Community Relations.
Malcolm Graham is married to Kim. They have two daughters named Cortney and Nicole.
