Malexander is a small village located in Boxholm Municipality, Sweden. It is about 80 kilometers (50 miles) southwest of Linköping and 27 kilometers (17 miles) southeast of Boxholm. The village is situated very close to the beautiful lake Sommen. It even has a special dock where the old steamboat S/S Boxholm II stops.
History of Malexander
People have lived in Malexander for a very long time. Records show that there was a church in the village as early as the 13th century. The church building you see today, known as Malexander Church, was built in 1881. It had to be partly rebuilt after a fire in 1929.
Famous People from Malexander
Malexander has been home to some interesting people:
- Hilding Hagberg: He was a leader of a political party in Sweden from 1951 to 1963.
- Sven Stolpe: He was a well-known author who wrote many books.
- Bengt Åkerblom: Another author, famous for his work called Åkerblomstolen.
- Pelle Björnlert: He is a riksspelman, which means he is a master folk musician in Sweden.
