Malika was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Her father, Sam Aliassime, is from Togo. Her mother, Marie Auger, is from Quebec. Malika grew up in L'Ancienne-Lorette. This is a town near Quebec City.
Malika has a younger brother named Félix. He is also a professional tennis player. Malika started playing tennis when she was six years old. She trained at the Académie de Tennis Hérisset-Bordeleau. Her father, Sam, was her coach in her early years. Since 2015, Malika has been living in Montreal.
Starting Her Tennis Career
Malika Auger-Aliassime began her professional tennis journey in 2015. Her first professional match was at the 2015 Coupe Banque Nationale. This tournament took place in September. She played in the qualifying round but did not win.
Later, she made her debut on the WTA Tour. This was at the same tournament. She received a special entry, called a wildcard, for the doubles main event. She played with her partner, Charlotte Petrick. They faced Barbora Krejčíková and An-Sophie Mestach in the first round.
