Mannan Hira (born 1956 – died December 23, 2020) was a famous Bangladeshi writer of plays and a filmmaker. He was known for his creative stories and his work in theater and movies. In 2006, he received the important Bangla Academy Literary Award for his plays.
Early Life and Education
Mannan Hira was born in 1956 in a place called Sirajganj. At that time, it was part of East Pakistan, which is now Bangladesh.
He studied at Rajshahi College for his higher secondary education. Later, he went on to graduate from the University of Dhaka. This is one of the biggest universities in Bangladesh.
Career in Theater and Film
Mannan Hira loved telling stories through plays. He wrote about 15 plays for the theater. He was also the president of a group called Bangladesh Path Natok Parishad. This group performs plays in public places, often to share important messages. He was also a member of another theater group called Aranyak Natyadal.
In 2014, Mannan Hira started making movies. His first film was called Ekatturer Khudiram. This showed his talent not just for writing, but also for directing stories on the big screen.
Later Life and Legacy
Mannan Hira passed away on December 23, 2020, in Dhaka. He died from a heart attack. He left behind a rich collection of plays and a film that continue to inspire many. His work helped shape Bangladeshi theater and cinema.
