Mansour Pourheidari was a famous Iranian football player, coach, and manager. He was born on January 26, 1946, in Tehran, Iran, and passed away on November 4, 2016. He is remembered as a true legend in Iranian football.
He began his football journey at Daraei. Later, in 1965, he joined Taj, which is now known as Esteghlal. He played for Taj for ten years, from 1965 to 1975. After that, Pourheidari returned to Daraei in 1975 and played there for two more years before ending his playing career. He also played a few games for the Iran national football team.
After he stopped playing, Pourheidari became a coach. He started as an assistant manager for Esteghlal. In 1983, he became the main manager of the team. He led Esteghlal for a total of nine years, managing them in 309 games. He is the only Iranian person to have won the AFC Champions League (a big football tournament in Asia) as both a player and a coach. He also coached the Iran national football team at the 1998 Asian Games, where they won the gold medal. At the time of his death, he was still involved with Esteghlal F.C. as a technical manager and a member of the club's board of directors.

Early Playing Days
Mansour Pourheidari started playing football when he was 17 years old. He began his career at a club called Daraei. In 1965, he moved to Taj, which is now known as Esteghlal. He played as a right defender for Taj for ten years. During this time, he helped his team win the Asian Championship in 1970. He also played three games for the Iran national football team. He stopped playing football in 1977.
A Successful Coach
Pourheidari started his coaching career in 1980 as an assistant coach. In 1983, he became the head coach of Esteghlal. After three years, he left Esteghlal to coach Al-Ahli in the UAE until 1989.
He returned to Esteghlal as manager in 1989 and helped them win the league the next season. He also led Esteghlal to win their second Asian trophy in 1991. He left the team again but came back in 1995 for one season. After that, he coached Fajr Sepasi for two seasons.
In 1998, he became the head coach of the Iran national football team and coached them until 2000. Mansour Pourheidari was also a part of the leadership team for Esteghlal for many years. He was the team manager from 2010 to 2012, and then the technical manager from 2012 until his death.

His Life Off the Field
