Gods River is a small, remote community in northern Manitoba, Canada. It is the main home of the Manto Sipi Cree Nation. This First Nations community lives on the shores of Gods Lake, where the Gods River begins.
About Gods River
The Manto Sipi Cree Nation is a First Nations community. Their traditional language is Cree, which is also spoken in the community along with English. The community is located in a very remote part of Manitoba. It is surrounded by nature and beautiful landscapes.
Getting to Gods River
Because Gods River is so remote, it's not easy to reach by car all year. During the winter, a special road called a winter road is built. This road is made of ice and snow. It allows people to drive in and out of the community. The rest of the year, the only way to get there is by flying into Gods Lake Airport.
Life in the Community
The population of Gods River is usually between 400 and 700 people. Many people who visit the area come for fishing or to experience the natural beauty. There is a lodge where tourists can stay. The community is a vibrant place where the Manto Sipi Cree Nation keeps its culture and traditions alive.
