Manuel Bermúdez de Castro y Díez (born June 11, 1811, in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain – died March 11, 1870, in Madrid, Spain) was an important Spanish economist and politician. Manuel Bermúdez de Castro was the first son of José Bermúdez de Castro y Blasco and María de los Dolores Díez e Imbrechst. He got married in Madrid on July 21, 1860, to María de la Encarnación O'Lawlor y Caballero. Her father was Joseph O'Lawlor from Ireland, and her mother was Dionisia Caballero y Crooke. Manuel and María had one son:

  • Salvador Bermúdez de Castro, 2nd Duke of Ripalda (1863–1946). He later received important titles like the Dukedom of Ripalda and the Marquisate of Lema. These titles came from Manuel's younger brother, Salvador Bermúdez de Castro, 1st Duke of Ripalda.
