Manuel Martín Piñera was born in a place called Cabezón de la Sal in Cantabria, Spain. His birthday is June 3, 1931.

After he stopped racing bikes in 1970, a friend helped him find a new job. He worked at that company until he retired completely.

Manuel's Cycling Career

Manuel Martín raced as a professional cyclist from 1955 to 1969. He was 1.72 meters tall and weighed about 68–70 kilograms when he was in good shape. People thought he was a very strong rouleur, which means a cyclist who is good at riding on flat or rolling roads with a lot of power.

He started his cycling career a bit later than some, at age 24, in the beginner category. After two successful years, he moved up to race as an "Independent" rider. Two years later, in 1958, he joined the team called Kas–Boxing.

In 1968, when he was 38 years old, Manuel joined the Karpy team. That year, he won two stages in the Vuelta a España and was even a team leader. He retired from cycling after the next season.
