Manuel Martín Piñera raced professionally from 1955 to 1969. He was known as a "rouleur." This is a type of cyclist who is very strong and good at riding on flat or rolling terrain. He had great physical strength, standing 1.72 meters tall. During his racing days, he weighed around 68-70 kilograms.

In 1958, after two years as an Independent, Manuel joined the well-known cycling team, Kas–Boxing. He stayed with KAS for many years, showing his dedication and skill.
