Marín is a town and a type of local government area called a municipality in Galicia, Spain. It is located in the province of Pontevedra. You can find it on the southern shore of the ria of Pontevedra, which is like a river valley flooded by the sea. Marín is part of the comarca (a traditional region) called O Morrazo.
This town is very special because it is home to the Escuela Naval Militar de Oficiales, which is Spain's main Naval Academy for training officers. The name Marín comes from "Marini," meaning "property of Marinus," who was a person who owned this land long ago. It's a coincidence that it sounds like the word for "sea" in Latin!
