Becoming a Chef
Early Cooking Days
Marc Forgione started cooking when he was just 16 years old. He joined his father, Larry Forgione, in the kitchen at a restaurant called An American Place. His father was also a well-known chef. Marc loved cooking and learned a lot from his dad. He used these early lessons to create his own unique cooking style.
Learning and Training
Marc decided to go to college to study more about restaurants. He attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst and studied Hotel and Restaurant Management. During his summer breaks, he worked in different restaurants in New York City. He learned from chefs like Kazuto Matsusaka. After college, Marc continued to work with his father. He also worked with other famous chefs like Patricia Yeo and Laurent Tourondel.
Cooking in France
To learn even more, Marc traveled to France. He worked in several restaurants there, learning from French chefs. This experience helped him to try new cooking methods and ideas. He worked at places like Le Pres D'Eugenie and Ferme aux Grives.
Marc Forgione's Career

When Marc came back to New York, he worked again with Laurent Tourondel. He became the head chef at BLT Prime. Later, he became the corporate chef for the BLT Restaurant Group. This meant he helped create recipes and keep the food quality high for many restaurants across the country. He helped open new BLT restaurants in different cities.
Awards and Recognition
Chef Forgione has received many important awards for his cooking. In 2012, he earned a star in the Michelin Guide New York City. This is a very special award for restaurants. He was the youngest American-born chef to get this award for three years in a row (2010, 2011, 2012).
His restaurant also received a great review from The New York Times. It was named a "Key Newcomer" by Zagat Guide in 2009. Forbes magazine also called it an "All-Star Eatery." Marc himself won the "Star Chefs Rising Star of the Year Award" in 2010.
New Restaurants and Cookbook
In 2012, Marc announced he would open a new steakhouse called American Cut. It was located in Atlantic City. In 2013, he opened another restaurant called Khe-Yo. This restaurant serves food inspired by Laotian (from Laos) cooking. It uses fresh ingredients from local markets.
