Marcellus is a small village located in Onondaga County, New York, United States. It is part of the larger town of Marcellus. In 2020, about 1,745 people lived there. The village is found southwest of the city of Syracuse.

History of Marcellus
Marcellus village was first settled in the late 1700s. It officially became a village in 1853. The village grew because of two main things. First, the Nine Mile Creek provided water power for mills. These mills made things like wool, paper, and even gunpowder.
Second, the Seneca Turnpike passed right through the village center. This important road made it easy for people and goods to travel to and from Marcellus.
The Dan Bradley House is a very old and special building in Marcellus. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. This means it's recognized as an important historical site.
Historic Buildings and Landmarks
Marcellus has many beautiful old buildings that show off different styles of architecture. These buildings are some of the best examples in Central New York.
- Dan Bradley House: Located at 59 South Street, this is one of the oldest homes in the area. It was likely built in the late 1700s. It still has many original details from the Federal style, including its old windows.
- Caleb Gasper House: Found at 4 Slocombe Street, this house was built around 1811. It also features a lovely entrance in the Federal style. It used to be the Marcellus Free Library.
- Greek Revival Mansions: Two grand homes show the Greek Revival style. The Curtis Moses House (36 South Street) was built around 1838. The Dr. Lake I. Tefft House (18 North Street) was built around 1830.
- First Presbyterian Church: This church, built in 1851, is a Greek Revival landmark. It stands at East Main and North Streets. Even though it has modern siding, it still looks much like it did long ago.
- Hiram Reed House: Built in 1853 at 31 North Street, this home is an example of the Italianate style. This style was popular in the mid-1800s. The house is surrounded by pretty, park-like grounds.
- Edward Talbot House: Located at 46 East Main Street, this brick building was built around 1835. It was later changed to fit the Italianate style. It is now home to the Masonic Lodge.
Geography and Nature
Marcellus is in a very scenic area. It is located at 42°59′08″N 76°20′29″W / 42.985572°N 76.341378°W.
- Lakes: To the south of Marcellus is Otisco Lake. To the west is Skaneateles Lake. These are both beautiful lakes in the region.
- Nine Mile Creek: This creek, known for its trout, flows to the north of the village.
The village covers about 0.6 square miles (1.6 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area within the village limits.
Two main roads meet in Marcellus village. New York State Route 175 runs east to west. New York State Route 174 also passes through the village.
