Marchais-en-Brie was a small village in northern France. It was once a special type of local area called a "commune." Think of a commune as a small town or district with its own local government. This village was located in the Aisne department, which is like a county in France.
On January 1, 2016, Marchais-en-Brie joined with other nearby communes. They all became part of a new, larger commune called Dhuys-et-Morin-en-Brie. So, Marchais-en-Brie is no longer a separate commune on its own.

How Many People Lived There?
The number of people living in Marchais-en-Brie changed over the years. Here's a quick look at its population:

- By 1975, the population went down to 152 people.
- But then, it started to grow again! In 1999, there were 240 people.
- By 2008, the population reached 266 people.
- The most recent count, from 2021, showed about 330 people living in the area that used to be Marchais-en-Brie.
