Marcin Szczygielski (born 1972) is a talented Polish writer, journalist, and graphic designer. He writes many different kinds of stories, including plays for the theater and novels for both adults and young people. Since December 2012, he has been a member of the Polish Writers' Association.

About Marcin Szczygielski
Marcin Szczygielski was born in Warsaw, Poland. His father, Cezary Szczygielski, was an actor, and his mother, Iwona Racz-Szczygielska, was a singer in a Polish girls' band called Filipinki. His parents separated when he was young, and his mother raised him. He lives in Warsaw.
Marcin Szczygielski's Career
Marcin Szczygielski started his writing career in 2003. He quickly became known as a popular author in Poland. One of his most important novels for adults is Poczet Krolowych Polskich (The Queens Saga), published in 2011. This book tells a big family story that shows Polish history through the lives of women from four different generations. It was even nominated for a literary award!

Awards and Honors
Marcin Szczygielski has received many awards for his wonderful books, especially those for young readers. Here are some of his notable achievements:
- Omega – Received a recognition award in the Halina Skrobiszewska Children's Literature Contest and was added to the Museum of Children's Books Treasure List in 2010. It was also named Book of the Year 2010 by the Polish section of IBBY.
- Czarny Mlyn – Won the Grand Prix and 1st Prize in the Second Astrid Lindgren Literary Contest in 2010 for novels for children aged 10–14.
- Za niebieskimi drzwiami – Awarded the Duzy Dong (1st Prize) by the professional jury and a recognition award by the Children's Jury in the Dong literary contest organized by the Polish section of IBBY in 2011. It also received 2nd Prize in the Halina Skrobiszewska Children's Literature Contest in 2011 and was included in the international IBBY Honour List in 2012, which features outstanding children's books.
- Poczet Krolowych Polskich / The Queens Saga – Nominated for the Srebrny Kałamarz Literary Prize in 2012.
- Arka Czasu – Won the Grand Prix and 1st Prize in the 3rd Astrid Lindgren Literary Contest in 2013 for novels for children aged 10–14. It also received a recognition award in the Book of the Year 2013 contest by the Polish section of IBBY and 1st Prize in the Halina Skrobiszewska Children's Literature Contest in 2014.
- Czarownica pietro nizej – Named Book of April 2013 by Magazyn Literacki Książki and won the Zielona Gaska 2013 Literary Prize in 2014.
- Guliwer w Krainie Olbrzymów – Received a Literary Prize in 2014 for his important contributions to children's literature.
- Flügel aus Papier (the German edition of Arka Czasu) – Chosen as one of the best seven books for young adults in Germany in April 2015 and named Book of July 2015 by the Deutsche Akademie für Kinder- und Jugendliteratur. It also won the Kinderbuchpreis 2015 (Children's Book of the Year) in Austria.
- Tuczarnia motyli – Won 1st Prize in the Halina Skrobiszewska Children's Literature Contest in 2015.
- Teatr Niewidzialnych Dzieci – Won 1st Prize in the 4th Astrid Lindgren Literary Contest in 2016 for novels for children aged 10–14 and received a recognition award in the Book of the Year 2016 contest by the Polish section of IBBY.
- Klatwa dziewiatych urodzin – Named Book of the Year 2016 by the Polish section of IBBY and Book of December 2016 by Magazyn Literacki Książki. It also won the Warsaw Literary Prize in 2017.
- Marcin Szczygielski was also honored with the Bronze Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis for his important contributions to Polish culture and national heritage.
