Marco Ferreri (born May 11, 1928 – died May 9, 1997) was an Italian film director, writer, and actor. He started making movies in the 1950s. He directed three films in Spain and then 24 Italian films.

Marco Ferreri was known as a very original and bold filmmaker in Europe. His movies were often shown at important film festivals. Eight of his films were part of the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival. He also won a top award, the Golden Bear, at the 1991 Berlin Film Festival. Three of his films are among the 100 most important Italian films ever made.

Marco Ferreri was born in Milan, Italy. His most famous movie is La Grande Bouffe from 1973. This film starred well-known actors like Marcello Mastroianni, Michel Piccoli, Philippe Noiret, and Ugo Tognazzi.

He passed away in Paris, France, from a heart attack. After his death, Gilles Jacob, who was in charge of the Cannes Film Festival, said that Italian cinema had lost a very unique artist. He added that Ferreri was great at showing the challenges people faced in his time.

Two years after that, his film Diario di un vizio was also nominated for the Golden Bear. This nomination happened at the 43rd Berlin International Film Festival.
