Marcos Aurélio Fernandes da Silva (born September 23, 1977), known simply as Marcos Aurélio, is a former professional footballer from Brazil. He played as a defensive midfielder or a centre-back. These positions are important for defending a team's goal.

His Football Journey
Marcos Aurélio started his career playing for different clubs in Brazil. He was known for his strong defensive skills.
Playing for Cruzeiro and Fluminense
In 2005, Marcos Aurélio joined the club Cruzeiro. However, he faced challenges because of injuries, which made it hard for him to play regularly. Later that year, he moved to Fluminense for a few months.
Moving to China
In 2006, Marcos Aurélio went to play in the Chinese Super League in China. While there, he tried to change his playing position to become a forward, someone who scores goals. This change was not very successful for him.
Back in Brazil
He returned to Brazil in 2007 and signed a contract with Portuguesa. He played well and renewed his contract, staying with the team longer.
In 2008, he went back to São Caetano for a year on a loan. A loan means a player temporarily plays for another team. After that, he joined Vitória for the rest of the 2009 season.
Later Career Clubs
In 2010, Marcos Aurélio signed with Brasiliense. He later moved to Bragantino and then to Itumbiara in 2011.
