Marcus Anthony Slaughter (born March 18, 1985) is an American former professional basketball player. He is 6 feet 8 inches (2.03 meters) tall. Marcus mostly played as a center on the court. He played college basketball for the San Diego State Aztecs.

Marcus Slaughter's Basketball Career
After college, Marcus was not chosen in the 2006 NBA draft. But he soon signed with a Turkish team called Pınar Karşıyaka. He had a great first season there! He scored about 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds per game. He was even named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2007 Turkish All-Star game.
Playing in Different Countries
In June 2007, Marcus signed a two-year deal with the Miami Heat in the NBA. However, he was released from the team a few months later. For the 2007–08 season, he joined the Israeli team Hapoel Jerusalem. After that, he moved to France to play for BCM Gravelines Dunkerque.
In the 2008–09 season, Marcus signed with a German club called Eisbären Bremerhaven. In 2009, he went back to France to play for SLUC Nancy.
Success in Spain and Germany
On July 27, 2010, Marcus signed with CB Valladolid in Spain. At the end of that season, he won the ACB Most Spectacular Player award. This award is given to the player who makes the most exciting plays!
In July 2011, he signed with the German team Brose Baskets. He had a very successful year there, winning both the German League and the German Cup titles in 2012.
Joining Real Madrid
After his success in Germany, Marcus returned to Spain in 2012. He joined Real Madrid, a very famous and strong team in both the EuroLeague and the Spanish League. In August 2013, he extended his contract with Real Madrid.
The 2014–15 season was amazing for Marcus and Real Madrid. They won the EuroLeague championship! They beat Olympiacos 78–59 in the finals. Real Madrid also won the Spanish League championship that season. They won against FC Barcelona in the finals. Winning both the EuroLeague and the Spanish League, along with another cup, meant they achieved the "triple crown" that season. This is a huge accomplishment in basketball! In September 2015, Marcus left Real Madrid.
Later Career
On September 6, 2015, Marcus signed a two-year deal with the Turkish team Darüşşafaka Doğuş. Later, on August 14, 2017, he signed with the Italian team Virtus Bologna for the 2017–18 season.
On August 9, 2019, Marcus signed with AEK Athens in the Greek Basket League. He played well, averaging about 4.8 rebounds and 4.6 points per game. He signed with the team again on July 28, 2020, and played until 2021.
