Early Life and Education
Margarita Olegovna Bogdanova was born in Leningrad, which is now called Saint Petersburg, Russia. Her grandfather, who was an electrical engineer, raised her. She went on to study law in Moscow and economics in Leningrad.
Taking Over the Family Business
Margarita's husband, Robert Louis-Dreyfus, sadly passed away from a serious illness in 2009. Before he died, he had already started including her in the company's management. After his death, Margarita became the leader of the Louis-Dreyfus Group. She also became the main owner of Marseille, a famous French football (soccer) club. Her husband had owned this club since 1996.
Selling the Football Club
In 2016, Margarita Louis-Dreyfus decided to sell the Marseille football club. She and the mayor of Marseille announced that Frank McCourt would buy the club. The sale was completed later that year for about 45 million euros.

Margarita met Robert Louis-Dreyfus in 1988 during a flight. They got married in 1992. They had three sons together. One of their sons, Kyril, is now the chairman and main owner of the English football club Sunderland.
