Margarita Louis-Dreyfus (born Margarita Bogdanova on July 1, 1962) is a successful businesswoman. She was born in Russia and later became a Swiss citizen. Today, she is the chairperson of the Louis Dreyfus Group, a large company involved in many different businesses around the world.
Early Life and Education
Margarita Olegovna Bogdanova was born in Leningrad, which is now called Saint Petersburg, Russia. She was raised by her grandfather, who was an electrical engineer. She studied law in Moscow and economics in Leningrad, preparing her for a career in business.
Leading a Global Company
Margarita Louis-Dreyfus took over the Louis-Dreyfus Group in 2009. This happened after her husband, Robert Louis-Dreyfus, passed away. He had already started including her in the company's management in 2007.
She also became the main owner of Marseille, a famous French football (soccer) club. Her husband had owned this club since 1996. In 2016, Margarita Louis-Dreyfus agreed to sell the Marseille football club to Frank McCourt. The sale was completed in October 2016.
Family Life
Margarita met her husband, Robert Louis-Dreyfus, in 1988 during a flight. They got married in 1992 and had three sons. One of their sons, Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, is now the chairman and main owner of the English football club, Sunderland.
Margarita lives in Zurich, Switzerland, with her children. She also has twin daughters who were born in 2016 with her partner, Philipp Hildebrand. She is a distant relative by marriage to the American actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
