Margarita Borisovna Terekhova (Russian: Маргари́та Бори́совна Те́рехова; born August 25, 1942) is a famous Soviet and Russian film and theatre actress. She was given the special title of People's Artist of Russia in 1996. This is a very high honor for artists in Russia.

About Margarita Terekhova
Margarita Terekhova was born on August 25, 1942, in a town called Turinsk, in Sverdlovsk Oblast. When she was in school, Margarita loved sports. She was even the captain of her basketball team. She was also a very good student and finished school with a gold medal.
Early Life and Studies
After school, from 1959 to 1961, Margarita studied physics and mathematics at the Tashkent State University. Later, she moved to Moscow. She wanted to study acting at a famous film school called VGIK, but she wasn't accepted there at first. Instead, she joined the acting school of Yuri Zavadsky at the Mossovet Theatre.
Theatre Work
After finishing her studies in 1964, Margarita worked for many years as an actress at the Mossovet Theatre. She performed in many plays. From 1983 to 1987, she also acted in a theatre group called "The Puppet Show." She started this group with Igor Talkov.
Film Career
Margarita Terekhova first appeared in a film in 1965. It was called Hello, That's Me!. She became very popular in the late 1970s. This happened after she starred in two musical TV films. These were The Dog in the Manger and D'Artagnan and Three Musketeers.
In The Dog in the Manger, she played a playful countess named Diana de Belflor. In D'Artagnan and Three Musketeers, she played the clever and tricky character of Milady. She also had important roles in other films. These included Monologue (1972) and Mirror (1975). In Mirror, directed by Andrei Tarkovsky, she played two different roles.
Margarita also acted in international films. These included The Blue Bird (1976) and Mama, I'm Alive (1977). These roles showed how talented she was as an actress.
Later Years
In 2005, Margarita Terekhova tried something new. She directed her first film, called The Seagull. This film was based on a famous play by Anton Chekhov. After this, Margarita stopped acting. She rarely gives interviews now because she is dealing with Alzheimer's disease. She also does not appear in public very often.
