Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova (Russian: Мария Алексеевна Львова-Белова; born 25 October 1984) is a Russian politician. She works as the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights in Russia. She started this important job in October 2021. Russian president Vladimir Putin chose her for this role.

Early Life and Education
Maria Lvova-Belova was born on October 25, 1984. Her family lived in Penza, a city in Russia. In 2002, she finished her studies at the A. A. Arkhangelsky College of Culture and Arts. She trained to be a conductor.
Political Career
Early Activities (2011-2021)
From 2011 to 2014, Maria Lvova-Belova was part of the Civic Chamber of Penza Oblast. This is a group that helps the government hear from regular people. She was also part of this group again from 2017 to 2019. During this time, she also worked with the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation. This is a similar group, but for the whole country.
In 2019, she became a leader in the All-Russia People's Front. This is a large public movement in Russia. She also joined the United Russia political party in 2019. This is a major political party in Russia. She was chosen to be part of the party's main council. She also helped lead a group that supports civil society.
In September 2020, she became a Senator for Penza Oblast. A senator is a person who helps make laws for the country. She was chosen by the governor of Penza Oblast. She kept this role until October 2021.
On October 27, 2021, President Vladimir Putin appointed her. She became the federal Commissioner for Children's Rights. This means she works to protect the rights of children in Russia.
Role During the Russia-Ukraine Conflict (2022-Present)

Maria Lvova-Belova has been involved in programs that move children from Ukraine to Russia. She was at an event in Moscow in July 2022. There, 14 Ukrainian children received Russian identity papers.
In September 2022, she shared a story about children from Mariupol. She said they first sang the Ukrainian national anthem. But later, they learned to "love Russia." Some officials from Ukraine and the United Kingdom have raised concerns. They say she has overseen the moving of children from Ukraine. These programs to transfer children to Russia started in 2014.

Personal Life
Maria Lvova-Belova is married to Pavel Kogelman. He is a priest in the Russian Orthodox Church. They got married in 2003. They have five biological children. They have also adopted eighteen other children. Their biological children were born in 2005, 2007, 2010, 2014, and 2018. In February 2023, she adopted a 15-year-old boy from Mariupol.
