Maria Rubert de Ventós is a Spanish architect. She won a big award in 2004 called the National Urban Planning Award of Spain. She helped design the expansion of the Palacio de las Cortes in Madrid in 1994. She also led the project for the Olympic Village in Barcelona. In 2011, she made history by becoming the first woman to be a university professor of Urban Planning in Spain.

Becoming an Architect
Maria Rubert de Ventós became an architect in 1981. She studied at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB). Later, in 1991, she earned her doctorate from the same school.

Rubert focuses on making cities better places. She works on protecting old buildings and creating new public areas. She also plans for green spaces, transportation, and how people move around.
Her work has mainly been in cities like Barcelona, Madrid, and Cartagena. She helps design how these cities grow and are managed.
Key Projects and Designs
One of her important projects was the 1994 expansion of the Palacio de las Cortes in Madrid. This is where the Congress of Deputies meets. She worked with Josep Parcerisa and Joan Clos on this project. Their design was chosen from 287 different ideas.
She also led the project for the Olympic Village in Barcelona. This village was built for the Olympic Games. Other projects include planning for the Besòs-Mar area and the urban center of Pineda de Mar.
Awards and Recognition
In 2004, Maria Rubert de Ventós received the National Urbanism Award of Spain. She won this award for helping people learn more about cities. She shared her knowledge and ideas about Barcelona with the public.
Teaching and Research
Maria Rubert de Ventós became a full professor at ETSAB in 2011. This was a big moment because she was the first woman in Spain to reach this rank in urban planning.
She has been teaching urban planning at ETSAB since 1983. She also does research and teaches in special programs. These include a doctorate program in urban planning and a master's degree in landscaping. Both are at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC).
She has also taught at universities in other countries. These include the United States, Chile, Germany, and Italy.
Rubert has also been a judge for several awards. In 2017, she was a judge for the first Manuel de Solà-Morales European Award. This award is for urban planning and is given by the UPC.
