Maria Rubert de Ventós was born in 1956 in Barcelona, Spain. She is a talented Spanish architect. In 2004, she won the important National Urban Planning Award of Spain.
Maria Rubert de Ventós helped design the expansion of the Palacio de las Cortes in Madrid in 1994. She also led the project for the Olympic Village in Barcelona. In 2011, she made history by becoming the first woman in Spain to be a university professor of Urban Planning.

Becoming an Architect
Maria Rubert de Ventós studied at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB). This is a special school for architects in Barcelona. She became an architect in 1981. Later, in 1991, she earned her doctorate degree from the same school.

Teaching and Academic Career
In 2011, Maria Rubert de Ventós became a full professor at the ETSAB. This was a very important moment because she was the first woman in Spain to reach this high rank in urban planning.
She has been teaching urban planning at ETSAB since 1983. She also does research and teaches in special programs. These include a doctoral program for advanced students and a master's degree in landscaping. She works in the Urban Planning Department at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC).
Maria Rubert de Ventós has also taught at universities in other countries. These include the United States, Chile, Germany, and Italy.
She has been a judge for several important awards. For example, she helped choose winners for the "Racons Públics" award in 2012. In 2017, she was a judge for the first Manuel de Solà-Morales European Award for urban planning.
