Her Journey in Filmmaking
Maria Sole Tognazzi started her career by learning from other directors. She worked as an apprentice director for several years. Her first film was a short movie called Non finisce qui in 1997.
After that, she made two more short films: C'ero anch'io in 1999 and Sempre a tempo in 2000. These short films helped her gain experience.
Her first full-length movie was Past Perfect in 2003. She helped write the story for this film. For Past Perfect, she won an award called the Nastro d'Argento for Best New Director. This was a big achievement for her first feature film.
In 2008, she directed her second feature film, The Man Who Loves. This movie was filmed in beautiful locations like Lake Orta and Turin. Famous actors like Pierfrancesco Favino and Monica Bellucci starred in it.
Maria Sole Tognazzi also made a documentary in 2010 called Ritratto di mio padre. This film was about her father. It was shown at the Rome Film Festival.
Her third feature film was A Five Star Life in 2013. This movie starred Margherita Buy. In 2015, she directed Me, Myself and Her, which was a romantic comedy. More recently, she directed episodes for the Italian TV series Petra in 2020.
