Pierfrancesco Favino (born 24 August 1969) is a famous Italian actor and film producer. He has won many important awards for his acting, including three David di Donatello awards (like the Italian Oscars) and a Volpi Cup for Best Actor from the Venice Film Festival.

Favino started his acting journey on stage in plays. Later, he moved into television and movies in the 1990s. He became well-known after starring in the film El Alamein: The Line of Fire. He then showed his talent in other popular Italian movies like Romanzo Criminale (2005), Suburra (2015), and The Traitor (2019), where he played the real-life mafia boss Tommaso Buscetta. His role in Padrenostro (2020) won him a top acting award at the 77th Venice International Film Festival.

He has also appeared in several big American movies. These include Night at the Museum (2006), The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008), Angels & Demons (2009), and World War Z (2013).

Favino was born in Rome, Italy. His parents came from a town called Candela in southern Italy. He has acted in more than 40 European movies and TV shows since the early 1990s.

In 2006, he won the David di Donatello award for his role in the crime film Romanzo Criminale. This award is considered Italy's highest film honor. That same year, he played Christopher Columbus in the American movie Night at the Museum.

In 2008, he appeared in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian as General Glozelle. He has worked twice with the American director Ron Howard. First, in the 2009 film Angels & Demons, where he played Inspector Ernesto Olivetti. Then, in the 2013 film Rush, he played the Formula One race car driver Clay Regazzoni.

Other important roles include a partisan leader in Spike Lee's Miracle at St. Anna (2008). He also played a doctor in the movie World War Z (2013). In 2018, he helped host the famous Sanremo Music Festival in Italy.
