About Marianella Machado
Early Life and Education
Marianella Machado was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She loved music from a young age. She studied at the Conservatorio de Musica José Ángel Lamas. Later, she learned more about composing music with William Banch.
In 1981, she received a special scholarship from the Venezuelan government. This allowed her to study at Indiana University in Bloomington, USA. She earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in music composition there.
Career as a Teacher and Writer
After her studies, Marianella Machado returned to Venezuela. She started working as a music teacher and a composer. From 1987 to 1988, she was a research assistant at the Rómulo Gallegos Center for Latin American Studies in Caracas.
She continued her education from 1989 to 1993. She attended the University of Cincinnati – College-Conservatory of Music. While there, she worked as a teaching assistant. In 1993, she earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree.
In 1994, Marianella Machado became interested in the Spanish language and literature. She studied at the University of Cincinnati again. She earned a Master of Arts degree in 1996. Then, in 1998, she received her PhD in Hispanic Literature.
From 1998 to 2003, she taught as a professor at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas. In 2003, she moved to the United States. She became an Assistant Professor of Spanish at Eastern Kentucky University.

Marianella Machado has created many musical pieces. She has also written several articles and books.
